As you set out in search of
Ithaka Pray that your journey be long, full of adventures,
full of awakenings, Do not fear the monsters of old...You will not meet then
in your travels If your thoughts are exalted and remain high,
If authentic passions stir your mind, body and spirit. You will not encounter
fearful monsters If you do not carry them in within your soul, If your soul
does not set them up in front of you . Pray that your journey be long
full of many summer mornings when with much pleasure and much joy
you anchor in harbors never seen before; Browse through Phoenician markets,
to purchase exquisite treasures - mother of pearl and coral and ebony and amber and
sensual perfume of all kinds -as much as you desire, Visit many Egyptian cities,
content to sit at the feet of sages, eager and open to receive learning,
Keep Ithaka on your mind, Your arrival there will be your destiny. But do not hurry
the journey at all; be patient, Better that it lasts for many years -
longer than you can imagines, So that finally, when you reach this sacred isle
you will be a wise woman, abundantly fulfilled by all you have gained
along the way; no longer expecting
Ithaka to make you wealthy, no longer
needing
Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka offered you the profound journey,
the chance to discover the woman you have always been, Without
Ithaka
as your inspiration, you never would have set out in search of Wholeness. And should
you find her poor, Ithaka did not deceive you, Authentic as you have become,
full of wisdom, beauty and grace, enriched and enlightened by
all you have experienced. You will finally understand what all
of life's
Ithaka truly means.

dearest peggy,

received your wig (reminded me so of you, i cried) thank you -- and the pics. oh my! taking the shot of the two of us off my bathroom mirror to show the girls at the show tonight (they've heard so much about you).

day 2 of rehearsal and a 2 show day. it's about sleeping now which is still tough as i am so excited- the mind is not stopping yet. pammy is in and it's like we never left each other- everyone's wild about her and she is crossing every t and dotting every i -- good thing you told me that i'm a deconstructionist! gives me hope! every color, every nuance - she's so precise and clean - hope that i can hit all the marks she is brilliantly and precisely giving me. she's also protecting me from my oblivious self - had me cancel the meeting with the big cancer ob-gyn who wanted to see me at 8:30 monday morning. "Are you kidding??? that's your day off And you just did a matinee PLUS rehearsed from 6:30 til 11:30 pm the day before. some things i can't protect you from, but THIS! Yes ma'am, cancelled, got it, thank you. Class act..plus a great friend.

and she's right -- with the extension of the run of 'You Can't Take It With You' the whole thing is HUGE. HUGE. We started rehearsing the tech scenes today - wheel chair and the battery of tests complete with descriptions of the quote REALLY SCARY SOUNDS. it was simply awful. we joke about it, but the play is so truthfully written and this dehumanizing process is just god-awful. And it's only a play! tomorrow, the first blocking of the pelvic exam. and the horrors just keep rolling on, mercilessly. and i love it, lord love a duck, i love doing what i do. now to do it beyond my best ability. keep remembering to breathe. sleep. trust.

love seeing that pic of your smiling face. "keep those cards and letters coming" - i am nourished by your words.

stay warm, my dear - love you,
k

Dearest Kim,

So so glad you have an angel watching over your spirit. This role makes you so vulnerable and it carries over to everyday life. Especially with you who live and breathe your characters until you disappear inside them. Many, many thanks to Pam for protecting you; now I can stop worrying about you.

Went to see The Magic Flute last night with Rita. The staging was quite original and very amusing. It reminded us of 'Survival'. There were torch-bearing druid/ priestly types, difficult trials for the hero (trial by fire, by water, by monsters), all culminating in triumph on high cliffs at dusk. Who ever imagined that 'Survival' was a rip-off of Mozart?

Well, I must get back to work (and so must you). I can literaly feel your enthusiasm for what you are doing through the computer screen, it is THAT strong. Doing what you love is the essence of happiness. As someone once said: Work as if you don't need the money, love as if you've never been hurt and dance as if no one is watching.

Love to you,
Peggy
