We knew we were doing something dangerous. And important. We knew it was hard. We were so hoping it would find an audience. None of us had any idea it would change the way medicine is practiced in this country, that the play would enter the lexicon of Great American Drama (complete with study notes,) and that it has become required reading for health care professionals. I never could have imagined that I would be so honored to continue to play Vivian Bearing over and over and over again. 'How are you feeling today?"

When an audience member writes you after seeing you in performance, you are always touched to your core. You reconnect with why you became an actor in the first place, rededicate yourself to impossible standards of truth-telling and renew your determination to keep on doing it. And sometimes you are even blessed beyond measure.
